The first two weeks after getting inked are the most important for healing your tattoo. Here is what you need to know.
Day 1-3: The Critical Phase
In the first days, your tattoo is an open wound. Keep it clean and dry. Use mild, fragrance-free soap and gently pat dry. Apply a thin layer of healing ointment.
Day 4-7: Itching Phase
Now healing begins and often intense itching. Never scratch! Pat instead or apply healing ointment. The skin starts to peel - this is normal.
Day 8-14: Almost there
The skin continues to regenerate. Maintain the care routine, avoid direct sunlight and chlorinated water. After 2 weeks, the top layer of skin is usually healed.
